B2S Bulletin Board and Book Love!

Oh it has been awhile since I've posted, but I've been focusing on getting back in the groove of things!  Tuesday was the first day back for staff, and also a super sad day since we just discovered that our third grade teacher was being moved to another school due to lack of enrollment.  Her room was just about all ready to go and then she got the news right before our first day.  My heart goes out to her, but I'm positive she will do a fabulous job and I'll be seeing her around at district functions.

Today we basically spent the day looking at data from STAAR testing and tomorrow I have staff development meetings for reading and science all day.

I wanted to share some pictures with you....

Here's our 5th grade team back-to-school bulletin board:

We went with an election theme since it goes well with our social studies curriculum!  At the end of the board, under the "vote" sign, we have two large ballots for each homeroom with all the kiddos names on it.
This is the "ballot box" I created.  At the start I had an actual box on the board, but it just wasn't staying put no matter what I tried.  So much for being crafty!!!

Dollar Tree has some great election themed items for the classroom...so we stapled a few of the ballots I found on the board.

Lastly, here's some pictures of books that my campus reading specialist dropped off to go along with our MMH adoption.  She gave me a list of books that relatea to each unit, and I'm so so so excited to have these books in my room.  There's really some great books!  I plan of displaying them during each unit for students to read during free time, and also using them as anchor texts.

I felt like a kid in a candy store when I saw all of these books!
Love, love, love Aesop's Fables!
Here's the book's I've pulled out that go along with our first unit.  The kids are going to love these!

I have pictures of my classroom on my camera, but I didn't want to overload you with too many pictures at once.  Check back tomorrow and they should be up!  :)
